Sun: A Poem for Malcolm X Inspired by His Murder

In remembrance of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X, VTC presented the New York premiere* of SUN by playwright Adrienne Kennedy, who in 2022 was awarded the Academy of Arts and Letters Gold Medal for Drama, one of only five recipients in history, along with Edward Albee, Tennessee Williams, Eugene O’Neill, and Arthur Miller .
*Commissioned in 1968 for the Royal Court Theatre in London, this stream-of-consciousness monologue reveals the inner journey of Man at the moment of his death.
